As many of you know, I have a connection to the Columbine tragedy of 1999.
I’ve spent a good part of the last 8 years traveling the US with some of the family members of Rachel Joy Scott (the first girl killed there that day).
Through this great adventure I’ve seen first hand that God can bring great good out of unspeakable sadness, from ashes to beauty.
It takes those that are willing to do the hard work though, it’s not an easy path to take. The path is forgiveness… Choosing to let go of the hate, the hurt and the pain. To walk on in Love and owe no man anything but LOVE.
Rachel’s family are some of the most inspiring people I’ve ever know, challenge me every time I’m with them.
This is my hope for those left from the unspeakable tragedy of Aurora CO. I have Hope that God WILL bring great good out of this terrible day. I have great Hope that His name will be ultimately lifted up.
Beth, Rachel’s mom, has often told me “The devil overplayed his hand that day”. She is so right.
The devil also overplayed his hand in Aurora on 7-20-12, he may have thought he had won a great victory however I am expectant for God to do GREAT things through this for many years to come.
I’ve seen around 14 school shootings stopped, dozens of suicidal kids set free, broken hearts mended, rival gangs call a truce, families put back together all because Rachel’s family is willing to walk in forgiveness and be used by God.
I am believing for this and even greater things to come out of Aurora…
Henry Ford once said “When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”
God is in the business of us “taking off” but we must be willing to forgive.
Micah 6:8
He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?
My Hope is in the Lord my God.
